Edit : Nevermind, nothing major. Worked out though, at 1000GB (Roughly even if you take away 10%) i will be able to fit 1000 movies on there!!! (Again, roughly-don't get technical on me)
1000 HDD GB = ~931GB Formatted if I recall correctly. That is ~1330 movies to be exact(ish). :p

I'd go for the 2TB in any case by the way. Take2 got 'em for R972, or you could for first time in your life buy PC hardware over the counter for market relevant prices at an actual brick and mortar store ... Incredible Corruption got 'em for a whoppingly low R999.

Yeah, I noticed the 2TB ones... hmmm nice price. But if you on a low budget just for a backup drive ... that Sammy is not bad. My first 1TB drive was over R1500 and it was one of those seagates .11 with firmware issues :(

I lol'd at this line. good one.

Basically this isn't to run your OS or apps off of (even though I wonder if you'd notice the difference) but to store all your movies etc.

And that's exactly what I need it for. To store movies. Although ripping 1000+ movies to 700mb DivX is't going to be fun :(

any bright ideas from the peoplez?

Rip them yourself. But do like one a night or something. There is really no "easy" way to do it. Unless you got like multiple dvd roms, then you could speed up the process to some degree.
