It's a great entry level receiver and supports Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio which is great.

Yes, it's a very good deal for a newer model with all the features it has. The US retail price on it is $999, so getting it at R11k locally is pretty damn good.

What do you think of the brand? I see DIONWIRED sometimes has them on special - any good? Or rather, does it at least keep up with the Yamaha?

Quality is great and not something I ever questioned with the brand, even this entry-level unit. Had nothing major to complain about during my 3 and half years using it.
