Then you read the fine print

Who wants R50 on 2 sim cards for 20 months....

i did read it,but can still be nice
esp for a company that needs phones/sims for the workers

and get a backup phone, and your not tied to a contract

not the best value but,if someone wants a cheap phone wiht out a contract it can work

I'm looking for a good bargain on a laptop. I know it has been asked before, just looking for a more recent bargain.

Looking for a laptop that can run word, powerpoint, excel and browse the web. Not gonna do any gaming or anything like that. I don't care about the size 13-15" is fine. Don't care about battery etc. And as long as I can upgrade the RAM myself. Don't want to spend too much - so hopefully less than R5k

I'm in the JHB area.

Here are some from takealot, not sure if i'll find cheaper/better:

Thanks,
Chris

From that list the HP will be the best choice.

Check this week's episode of 'The Gadget Show' (UK)

They just pitched almost those exact laptops against each other, with the exception of the latest Chromebook.

Also, remember in several instances older i5 CPU's are not any faster than newer i3's. You can use this site to compare them:

Did you guys check the specs?

That drive must be as old as mountains if it only supports 802.11 b/g & only USB 2.0.

Yes, I was tempted at first. But after going through the specs I changed my mind. Does not even mention MKV playback.

There's no such word as bargain when you buy a laptop... 3 - 6 months down the line a new model comes out.... If you only wanna run office applications buy an entry windows notebook machine for R2500. That way you've something temporarily until you see a true bargain. Keep your eyes open next week perhaps there will be some bargains closer to pay day... act now as hardware prices will go up.
