Why buy a year old phone?

Why not? I don't want a glass back. I want a spare battery as I go through 2 in a day. I want 2x free screen replacements. S5 ticks all of those. S6, none.

I don't game and only use mail, SM, browse and whatsapp.

My mom is currently using my old S2 but it's starting to age fast. Is this phone any good?

For that price you won't get anything better spec'd.

The Huawei P8 Lite is the next best but much more expensive.

What do you guys think of this for a budget tab?

I see the wifi only versions are still priced at R3499.
Screen resolution is not great, but there is a big price difference between this and the Tab S which provides much better resolution.
On board memory is also on the low side, but there is a SD card slot to expand.
It will have very basic uses, no heavy gaming & won't be used as an e-reader.
Browsing and social media mostly.

Excellent for the price.

So after ordering the samsung

I saw that the LG G Pad is the same price.

I've been looking for a few weeks and both were in the mid R3k range, I pulled the trigger a bit early because I was surprised at the samsungs price.
The tab is not meant to do anything special, one requirement is that it is bigger than 7"
I think 8" is a sweet spot. Does anyone have experience in either?
Spec wise the LG seems better, and I should probably just cancel the samsung and order the LG.

Both seem good deals for budget tabs though so I'm posting it here while making up my mind.

I have the LG, it's ok, to be honest I'm bored with it. It's ok, but not really bigger than a 7inch. It also has no dialler which becomes difficult to monitor data

Thanks, I think I will stick to the Samsung since it is already ordered and if the person prefers a smaller tab, I can always return and get the LG.
