Ages ago you could double the capacity of a 5.25″ floppy disk in just a few seconds, and the only tool you needed was a hole punch. Bumping a 3.5″ floppy to a whopping 128GB requires a bit more effort.

I'm quite a fan of hackaday,doing some projects myself when time allows

Other than the _modding_ of the stiffy and the case,the only thing that barely would pass as a hack is the cable modification,which is really a 1 to 1 soldering of pins (the repurposed ribbon cable) which is cute at best

So your use of "everyone" is questionable. Go look at the comments in the linked article even,there is enough noise to disprove your assertion


As a Mod this build is pretty cool. As a hack it's quite boring
