Hi,

I'm thinking of getting internet for the first time and need advice on a cheap router, i'm thinking about taking up the SAOL R399 uncapped option and wanted to know what router would be best ?

i see on the classifieds they have a few wireless ones for sale but would this work for me ?

or does anyone know were i can get a cheap router ?

If it is your first time I assume you have added up the cost of telephone line rental and the line speed?

Do you actually have a Wi-Fi setup in place? Usually laptops have Wi-Fi built it in by default these days.

And if you require a wireless or a non-wireless router. This would sometimes depend on where you would place the router and the distance of the computers from the router.
 
thanks for the reply, it's actually for a desktop not a laptop but will a wireless router still work ? the SAOL option says R399 all incl once i move my line from telkom so it seems reasonble or am i missing something ...

A wireless router would work for your desktop but you would require a wireless adapter/dongle and if you do go wireless, make sure to put WPA2-AES encryption on. I'll do you a favour and check what this SAOL package actually contains.

sorry mybad it is R499 + R139 +/- for the call line so total around +/- R650.
