Hi

So I brought a second hand Dell laptop from gumtree. It works fine on windows 8.1 single language but as soon as I try the upgrade process to either windows 8.1 pro or the latest build of windows 10 pro I get a bluescreen with the error crypto library internal error.

I have googled and seen that people who have this issue have finally figured out that something was faulty with their cpu. But what doesn't make sense is that it works fine with win 8.1 single language.

I contacted the seller who was shocked that their was a potential problem with the cpu as he used it for graphic design daily. He used he used to have windows 8 pro (can only presume a cracked version) on before and formatted it back to its original oem operating system being windows 8.1 single language. He also said that bitlocker was enabled.

Now my question is what could the source of the issue be. My cpu or a previous bitlocker encryption not probably removed?

Reset BIOS.
Disable AES Hardware module.
Clean Format HDD.
Reinstall Windows 10 Pro.
Install INTEL AES Hardware Drivers(Might be part of the chipset drivers).
Enable AES Hardware Module.

It's an inspiron 3443. Under the security tab in the bios there is secure boot mode and two options standard and custom. When I go into custom an additional option appears called key management and then under there, there are various options install default secure boot keys... platform key which is set... key exchange key database which is set... authorized signature database which is also set and authorized timestamps which is not set and then forbidden signature database which is set.

I can't seem to find the disable aes hardware option.

Pick Standard boot mode and try.
Ok trying now. I have even swopped the hard drive in case it was something wrong with the hdd

Was this on a clean install? Was the bios reset to default?
1. Run a Ram Check

Does it go to Windows Desktop and after 10+ minutes throw this error or immediately?

This was a clean install. Have done the thorough diagnostic test that is built into the Dell and all pass without a issue.

I got into the windows 10 pro desktop once and then the same error pops up but normally this error occurs during the initial setup of windows pro.

I have had windows 8.1 sl running fine for the past day.

I have also put different ram in it and a different hdd yet same results when trying to install Windows pro

The issue is the CPU or hardware related issue. If you got into Windows 10 Desktop then bitlocker is not the issue.
