Hey there everyone, looking for some help with "hardwiring" my whole home for Internet.

I have attached a pic with the current setup.

House Plans.jpg

I dont mind if the laptops and mobile devices use wireless, but I would like the rest to connect via Ethernet cable.

I managed to run all the cables in the roof and down to the connected devices from the ceiling.

My current problem is that I only have 4 ports on the router and not all the devices can connect via Ethernet cable. That is going to increase again when I get my son his own media player to watch his animation and kiddy movies. He will need access to the shared folders to watch his stuff.

I have all my media and content stored on the hardwired PC in the Lounge. I have all the network shares done. The mede8er, XBOX and "wireless" PC all have access to the shared folders.

I could get a 16 or 24 port switch, but don't wanna spend too much to get the house hard wired.

Are there alternatives? What would be the best way to accomplish this. I have marked where all the plug points are.

Any help would be appreciated.

Seriously, a switch and CAT cable is the cheapest - and most reliable and fast (latency) way to do this (and most other) setup - especially those designed for sharing/streaming media.

Switches really aren't that expensive and any ethernet-over-power solution will cost way more and be a load less reliable.

It's not only the cheapest way but also luckily the best - and you'll have some spare ports to wire up the Smart TV and the other PC too.
