Hardy Wifi Problems

Thanks, I'll try that

My router address is 10.0.0.2 also but I cant get it to connect again, my ssid can not want to be accepted again.

Do you think the telkom router could be problematic for linux?

I seriously doubt it. I'm using a 200 VWR here.

As milomak says, if you can ping the router or access the status page at 10.0.0.2 then you're mostly there. If you're using NetworkManager then there shouldn't be any need to fiddle, but check if /etc/resolv.conf contains this line:
Code:
nameserver 10.0.0.2

Ok thanks, I'll see if Wifi will work today.

Checked /etc/resolv.conf and it's the same as my router.

I realise now that I never connected to my router as I thought but connected to my own adhock connection that I forgot about so my connection was a loopback connection lol.

I suspect the driver is the problem, its a windows driver that's probably crippled on linux even though its the correct driver that comes with bootcamp.

That is my suspicion too. I had to install Linux on an HP nx6125 notebook a while back, and it had a Broadcom like yours, but with a BCM4318 chipset.
I'm assuming this from a previous post of yours:

ndiswrapper -l
Code:
bcmwl5 : driver installed
        device (14E4:4328) present

Are you using 64 bit *ubuntu BTW? IIRC you need to extract the .inf and .sys files from the 64 bit driver if you are, and there appear to be several of these when I search on google.

Yep that's the chipset, its not linux friendly
Using the 32bit version

what guide did you follow to setup the wifi?

I first adapted this guide which installed the driver correctly.

Then I tried WICD using this guide

name change?

oh if the driver is not linux friendly that's a whole different kettle of fish.

I've never had problems with my Telkom router specifically with Linux. We just all have problems with it (ie it's a useless router)
