Hey guys, just want to say hello!

Been reading this forum for a while now but only recently decided to actually sign up. One of those types that tend to search for answers rather than ask.... i guess?

And was wondering which hardware sites you use to check stuff or perhaps some of the better forums? I sort of get nervous when the site reads graphicscardreviews.com (:

Something like tomshardware...?

i always find myself going to toms hardware. but i normally just open a good few sites, and take an average from that. or if i know of some people who have the hardware or had it, i'd ask them instead of browzing online, and take thier word for it more than some random guy over seas in america

www.cnet.com for decent user reviews. It's not a hardware enthusiasts site, but more a user site. I have found their reviews to be good in the real world. Have bought some of my stuff based on reviews on there and they actually do quite good.

Personally I open google, than type in item name along with review and than go through a bunch of them. Google first, than ask ;)

Thanks guys

Looks like what i want and what my wallet says i may have just doesn't match up

Somewhat expected and yet so sad...

Just go for broke. :D
I told myself this upgrade round I'd get the machine and that's that. And so it was... but then the H50 got ordered, and then 3 more 14cm fans and a tube fan, and then another 1TB drive which was only supposed to come next year, and then another R600 on a new mouse, and then a new keyboard for the office, and now I'm thinking I'll order me a Thermaltake HR-05/XFI.

But it's down to planning... transferring my craploads of downloads to the office leaves quite a bit of cash available now. :D Until ofcourse I get fired for that.

Best way. Then you find reviews for the product on every hardware site that has reviewed it.

I also read newegg.com reviews, but I think some of the time users there blame the manufacturer for their own incompetence. I hope to maybe get some kind of insight that the "pro" reviewers don't see from there, some of those users will have had the product for some time before reviewing it and issues may have come to light.

Reviewers also rate their "tech level" as high when they should obviously not. e.g. I have seen a review where someone rated their tech level as high, complaining of "missing" hard drive space on their new HDD.

Now someone who has a "high tech level" should be aware of something like this surely?

I'm no expert and even I know about that, sure you can't be expected to know everything blah blah blah...
