Hi guys
Has anyone done their own will?
Can you suggest a good template?
I see many online.
Thanks
Wow! CNA is still around!!? Those Wills will be super outdated. You can go to CNA they normally have a basic "will" that you can buy. Any of these other companies want you to sign up and then you're going to be spammed 24/7
failing that here is one from legal-aid (they are a legit company)
Where you keeping the will? You can get your bank to send you a draft, and then edit and change it as needed, and never send them the signed copy.
I don't think it is the cost to get it drawn up that concerns people, but the fact that they usually put themselves down as executor of your estate.Link has a template but more important is the guidance.
Personally don’t find the cost to have them drawn up prohibitive.
DO&JCD: Master/Wills
A will is a specialized document, which should preferably be drawn up by an expert like an attorney, trust company etc.www.justice.gov.za
Where you keeping the will?
Yeah, Standard Bank handled my dad's. I felt sorry when they wanted to give me the R50 and said they can just keep it for all their hard work.I actually went ahead and let FNB handle the will because my dad told me he can't be bothered to be executor just to save 2% of my measly estate.
What I've heard is that even if you are the executor, you can just hire a lawyer to do all the work. Depending on estate size, that may save a packet compared to the bank's 2% fee. Of course, I'm speaking as someone who will have the bank as executor.Don't ever offer to be executor. That's a waste of time.
Curious - what happens in the case where a person says in his Will ‘leave everything to x’ … but has policy’s that state beneficiaries as ‘a’ ?
Does one supersede the other because they contradict?
