Has anyone emigrated to Botswana from SA?

My mother in law moved there about 20 years ago. Loves it. My brother in law has his own business. Been there a few times to visit - love it. People are friendly, pace is slower but I may get frustrated if I wanted things done.

I think it is a good country to go to - they look after their own first. There is a whole Afrikaans community there too. Lots of South Africans have moved there. But most white people are there for two years at a time - so making friends is difficult. Getting a work permit could be tough - as I say - they look after their own first. Which is as it should be.

Oh my god, it was a joke...South Africans suck in general. Trash everything, racist, etc etc...I don't have to explain it, just read the news.

oh - I didn't get the joke? And usually whenever south africans say south africans trash and racist, they always exclude themselves from that category, it is interesting.

Exactly, is that not funny? The people who have the most issues with South Africans and South Africa are South Africans.
 
The problem with emigrating to Botswana and Namibia I feel there's always a small risk that they would become a part of South Africa and then you stuck back at square one.

There's more chance of the sky turning purple with golden glitter in it... I'd take my chances.
Namibia only separated from South Africa not that long ago and now doesn't want South Africans moving there. In what universe are they going to decide to become South Africa again? Botswana is more than capable of getting by on it's own without needing to become part of us too.

That's unlikely. Nam is closer to going the way of Zim. It is also very unequal with lots of poverty and the natives could become more restless and some populist politician might decide to use that to gain power.
