if you have hired a camper van what has been your experience? I am wanting to hire one for a weekend away. Can someone share their experience? Where you hired from? Driving experience etc.

Bobo campers rent them. They have branches in Benoni, Cape Town and I think Windhoek. I bought mine from them and had good service.

Fantastic way to camp. Had the 6 bed one although we were only 2. Comfortable at 110km/h on highways. Could push t maybe 140 when overtaking.

What do you intend using it for? I mean camping is a bit broad? You can go camp in a tent.
I cant seem to think of any reason to rent a campervan for a weekend.

The biggest problem with a camper van is that once you've set it up at your camp site, it's very difficult to use it to go and explore around the area you're camping at. Whereas with a caravan or a camping trailer you can just set it up, and then take your vehicle to go explore.

Many years ago I hired one for a festival from Bobo Camper. Back then there was a R10k deposit that my mates and I struggled to schlep together. I Imagine it's at least double that now. Just something to note.

I know a guy that hires a campervan every year for Afrikaburn.
Costs him like R10k each time but he doesn't care as he doesn't have to buy a vehicle, insure it, watch it depreciate, service it, find a place to park it at home, have it vandalised, etc.
Makes a lot of sense I guess
Looks very neat inside and he hasnt ever complained about them before
