Has anyone seen this? Desktop earth

Had it for a while now. It's actually not that heavy on bandwidth because you can update every hour, or every half hour etc.
 
For a second i thought you were referring to Google Earth but this is something completely different. I'd love to try this at home, tho like you im a bit worried about bandwidth consumption.

I've got a few geology friends who might love this app. they've got a large monitor in their office that isn't being used, im sure they'll love the idea of displaying the Earth on it :)

This looks like a port of OSXPlanet to Windows. OSXplanet has, however, on top of the cloud updates the following:
Satellite tracking, storm tracking, earthquake indicators and volcano data
 
Looks like Linux eye candy I have tried before. I prefer using the cube, with a video playing in the background, or the earth, or system information displayed as a background.
 
Its cool edit the options to abundant lights and you can see all the countries lights come on when it gets dark!:p

You can set it up as a screensaver, and when you hold the cursor over various places on eart, you will be able to see what the time is compared to our local time. It is fully customizable to your location. After it has been set up, it does not use any of your bandwith.
