Has anyone tried / bought a Packard Bell touchscreen PC?

As the title says: I really want one of these, I want to write a remote Midi controller touch interface to use with Ableton, not practical perhaps, but fun

Has anyone got one of these machines? Any opinions?

Doesn't look that appealing, since it has a resistive screen, and touching a screen in that position is not the optimum way to input data. I'd rather have a new iMac for that price, or an iPad for fun purposes like a virtual keyboard.

For a midi controller touch interface wouldn't you want to be able to touch multiple items at the same time (e.g. sliders?) - if so, it won't work on a single-point touchscreen, which are all that are available commercially, AFAIK.

If you're happy with a single-touch (i.e. only one point at a time) then yeah, it would be interesting...

Well Windows 7 supports multi-touch, so multi-touch must exist somewhere.

But ya, I still think you should rather develop for the iPad, and get an iMac.

Ah ok, I didn't realise it was only single-touch. Sad times Does anyone know of a multitouch PC, or even a multitouch monitor?

I'm pretty sure it is multitouch. But anyway, I don't see why you would wanna use touch controls on a pc like that. It's so cumbersome.

The Asus used to be available here but the distributors are not bringing them in anymore because it is not selling well enough. MSI is still available at around R 5000 I think.
