SA: Lift sanctions on Zimbabwe
Nov 12 2008 18:14

Brussels - The European Union and the US should help Zimbabwe develop its agriculture and attract investment rather than impose sanctions that have hurt the people, South Africa's foreign minister said on Wednesday.

Washington and Brussels have imposed visa bans and asset freezes on President Robert Mugabe and other senior Zimbabwean officials. US sanctions also bar Americans from engaging in any transactions or dealings with them.

"They (the sanctions) hurt the ordinary people ... if you have sanctions against the government then obviously investors will not want to deal with that government, tourists get frightened," Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma said in an interview.

Sanctions and the threat of further sanctions are the only thing that keeps Mug-Abe from massacring everyone who disagrees with him.

" tourists get frightened " ?!!

... and I actually help pay this persons salary ?

When are The European Union and the US going to impose missile strikes.

So basically she wants the US and EU to hand-out money for "free". Typical.

Well she's not completely useless, the entertainment factor has got to count for something.

Sounds like this woman is the worlds only surviving brain transplant donor.

:D

The minister actually has a point BUT, there's prerequisites before that condition can be filled, like
  • sorting out the political impasse in Zimbabwe
  • establishing a TRUE government of national unity

It's too bad though that the minister left this out, because what she said would actually have merit if it was framed in that context.
