I send and receive the odd counter to counter parcel.

Their tracking service is usually up and down on any given day. But its been offline now for a week. Like seriously do they just not care anymore?

Their tracking service has never been very reliable since it existed.

Usually easier to track via third parties.

I have been getting hit and miss responses (but mostly misses) from the tracking service. Usually some nonsense about being outside of the array....

You get what you pay for.

Yea, except that we all pay for the post office, and technically we're not getting what we pay for. Or did you forget that we pay for the post office with our taxes?

Usually means it hasn't been scanned in yet. I think they have such a huge backlog that stuff comes into the country and sits on a shelf for 2 months before its very first scan. From there it tends to move a bit faster.

Yip. Zero fcks given by the post office now. Just a complete f-u attitude as they realise their salaries stay the same whether they work or not. Absolutely no incentive to do their work.

Never... EVER.
Use Postnet or Aramex counter to counter, it's R90.

I use Postnet for reliability/affordability. They use DHL but it's slightly cheaper.
DHL, if it's urgent and important, you pay more but you get what you pay for.

Anything that touches the post office is a risk.

My experience here in Cape Town has been that you are lucky if it even arrives 3 months later.
As others have said, 0 f#@ks given.

Add the R25 or whatever charge now to every parcel and you can pretty much write the post-office off.
They'll charge you an extra fee if they actually bothered to deliver or simply keep whatever they want with 0 accountability when they don't deliver.

Win-win for them. I've literally given up on using PO.

Additional charge is for the recipient? When did that start?

I've long since stopped using the Post Office. Just too risky, and courier rates are pretty reasonable.
