Hi Everyone,
I think it would be interesting to see who has left SAIX based ISP's, and moved to IS or UUNET. Maybe just post "moved" and who you've moved to if you have :)

Cheers, Nick

Moved :) Back to UUNET.

Timing was nearly perfect. A mate who took over my old uunet account (guess he wasnt insane after all) decided to go abroad and I got it back from him.

Was planning to, till I saw SAOL's 10Gb offering. Softcap to local doesn't work for me, I need access to international sites (and I rarely use P2P). Telkom's one-size-fits-all 3Gb cap is unrealistic. Can you imagine if Telkom dictated that 3 hours worth of phone calls per month was sufficient for everyone, and any more than that was abuse?

I stayed.. Telkom have of yet not mentioned anything about caping local, and emails I have got from them say the same. I also dont like the satelite idea..

From the news articles going around as well with IS and Telkom... and if there is any truth to it, I'm glad I stayed for now. I'm still sick to death about the prices though.

Well Telkom is hardcapping, so if 3gigs is enough for you then hope you enjoy the stay

Funny.. I've been given this in writing that it is not the case.

If you have blown your 3 gigs in 4 days..hmm then I think that would fall under the abuse clause (no matter if it was used legally or not) and well i'm pretty sure you can expect to be disconnected. Do the maths and work out how much you will use if your already over 3gigs?? Telkom would constitute that as abuse. Its BS I know.. but IS would do the same if they never had their current set up

Moved from axxess (saix) to Nukecap (IS) and I don’t do online games so I have hardly notice a difference:) :) But then again I have to check my usage as not to go over my 2 gig to early in the month so I cannot say if I am getting good speeds or not. I have noticed sometimes some international sites take long to open but I had the same problem with saix.

I have taken up the issue of the hardcapping with my ISP (currently a SAIX only reseller), and due to my pressure and pressure from other clients ( I assume) they are investigating/negotiating for providing IS accounts from the end of November.

IS! IS ALL THE WAY, BABY!

They had a few problems, but it's mostly been sorted. Surprisingly fast, too.

And I mean...they're unshaped AND they softcap.
YAR! That appeals to me, matey!
