If you want to test it and already have Opera 11.64 running, choose the 'next'
install option. 64 bit download: http://snapshot.opera.com/unix/next_12.00-1450/opera-next-12.00-1450.x86_64.linux.tar.xz which allows you to have side by side installs. It's the same as the RC, the RC will however overwrite an existing Opera install. Also remember that some bugs will undoubtedly be present as it is not a final version.
HWA for Linux, yes it is disabled by default but it's there.
To enable HWA:
opera:config#Enable%20Hardware%20Acceleration
opera:config#Enable%20WebGL
Set both above to 1 then save and restart Opera. Check status: opera:gpu
