Have2Have.co.za will be stocking the new iPods. If you are impatient like me and cannot wait for Apple to bring them (a month, two months?) then I suggest getting it from them. They have updated their prices since last week.

First shipment in Johannesburg 14 Sept 2007

8GB Touch - R3126
16GB Touch - R3806
80GB Classic - R2535
160GB Classic - R3540
4GB Nano - R1539
8GB Nano - R1899
1GB Shuffle - R795

Yeah saw that topic. I actually responded to it :) Since it is grey market, will I still be able to get support? What benefits will I be missing out on?

I'm not sure... it depends on Apple SA... Gray market is basically bypassing local channels when selling something here... so Apple SA may refuse to honour the warranty, which means you have to go through have2have if something breaks, not necessarily a bad thing, depends on the service you'll get from have2have

I'm going to email them now and see what their stance is. There might be an international warranty even. Simon who answered my previous email also said their first two shipments are already sold out! Third shipment leaves USA next week and will arrive the following week.

I pretty sure they repair or send the item back to the US, it'll be interesting to hear. Cause I need one now as well, so let us know... I need one for my car, Sandisk Sansa doesn't work.

Response:

All iPods ship with an international warranty - as we source them for you from an authorised agent in the USA, this warranty is valid at any Apple Owned store in the world. Sadly Apple do not own any stores in South Africa and all iPods imported into South Africa are done so by third party agents, although the warranty should be valid, these third party agents only look after the ones that they import. Apple inc do not have a presence in SA.

From what I understand, you send it back to them and they will ship it back to the US for you to get repaired.

Ok.. I'll keep it in mind, as soon as I can get rid of my Sandisk Sansa, I might go through them.

jeez, that's pretty cheep. the 3rd gen nano 4GB is cheaper than a 2nd gen nano 1GB!

I know... I see the 160GB is on megastore.co.za for R38xx. Which is also quite cheap, I'm just not very impressed with them at the moment.

I want one of those!! :p

If you're after the 160GB, iPodWorld.co.za have it for R3600.

EDIT: WTF. I must be tripping. The 80GB was R2900 a minute ago, I emailed them asking if they can beat Have2Have's price and now it's R2600. Wonder if it was me?

Lol nope. Have2Have and IpodWorld must be getting from the same place or something, because they both dropped their prices..

Lol... I had to drop my price on my 2nd hand Sandisk Sansa thanks to that...

If they are importing grey then they have to compete with www.usatoyou.com who import anything for you, so they may have dropped prices to be in line with theirs.

Wow. Even more interesting. R2000 for the 80gb!

Is the site legit?
