I am in a job that requires me to be on call 24 hours 5 days a week and then on call every other weekend.

I have been doing it for 5 years and have since then only used one phone for my business and private calls.

This has become I problem for me because I never seem able to switch of when not on call or on holiday as I still receive business calls even when I am not working.

This has made me think of I should get another phone for work and a seperate work number.

The company gives me a cellphone allowance so I can decide what to use it on.

I don't really want a dual sim phone because I want to be able to switch my work phone off if necessary.

I am currently using a XS Max and I was thinking of getting a midrange Android phone for work.

Separate phones is what i have been doing for the last 11 and a bit years at my current job for exactly the same reasons, on call, standby etc
It's also useful for me where after hours I can just switch off my personal phone so that my friends dont harass me to go out drinking and yet i am still available on the work phone

Never heard of "Do Not Disturb"?
You can block interruptions from work contacts while still getting personal calls and messages. You can even have it turn on and off automatically.

Yes I use it from time to time. But I still see the notifications if I unlock my phone

After 1 week the guy is going to be:

Look at Samsung A range on takealot, don't bother with a contract if possible.

Or if you go for a contract they are some good priced ones at around the R300 range for the Samsung A series from telkom or cell c.

Ja I was thinking I would decide between these phones:
A31 because of Amoled Screen
A51 because of Amoled Screen
Redmi Note 8 because of performance/affordability/battery
Redmi Note 9 because of performance/affordability/battery

Ja it's difficult to seperate work and personal life if you have to do everything from one phone.
A dual sim phone may work for phone calls etc but I will still see work notifications.

If you buy the A31 you can claim the Samsung buds plus and if you don't use them I'll purchase them from you

Though that depends if the promo is still on as it's dependant on how many people have claimed it already
