Hey Peeps

I have been having strange issues with my telkom line since last week Monday, I have been in contact with telkom but it seems like a futile exercise to get any answers out of them.

On Monday last week i got home to find my connection was down my telkom line was synced fine at 8megs but the router was not authenticating with my Isp so i thought it might be my ISP so i switched to my afrihost account and tested on the guest@telkom account both with same result. After 2hrs of trying/fiddling and rebooting my router my connection comes up but my speeds are crap around 60kbps but my latency is fine around 13-20ms on second hope of tracert. I then rebooted the router again and once again it did not want to authenticate on the isp network, then around an hour later the connection comes up on its own and eveything is back to normal.

This is now happening randomly some days it will be fine other days not. Telkom phoned me on sunday said something about reprogramming my port at the exchange few min later i got a sms saying fault fixed and closed

Also just to mention i have tried 3 different routers

I have been experiencing exactly the same issue for the past 2 days.

My line and account is with Afrihost, so I have logged a call with them. But I haven't heard back today yet.

My line is synced but upon checking the routers debug log, I found messages stating the following:
"Timeout waiting for PADO packets"

According to what I've researched these messages have something to do with not being able to authenticate with the ISP. I have tried my WA account as well. To no avail.

Two of my neighbours are also experiencing issues (same neighbourhood, not street).

If it's not sorted by morning, I'll have to call Telkom **sigh**

This just happened to me. but im connecting fine on my WA account. since it only started now. i will have to call Telkom tomorrow to find out what the issue is

if anyone knows whats going on. please post reply
