VS2012 installation gives me the following error:
The .Net Framework installed on this machine does not meet the minimum required version: 4.5.50709.

While the .NET 4.5 Installer (just downloaded from MS) gives me this one:
Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5 is already a part of this operating system. You do not need to install the .NET Framework 4.5 redistributable.

Oh yay! So how do I fix this? Tried looking for .NET 4.5 in the Windows features to uninstall/reinstall but didn't find it. Any way to force the 4.5 installation to overwrite any existing files?

Do I need to get my hands on the Win8 RTM? I'm Dreamspark registered, I wonder if it would be available?

Perhaps; I remember, upgrading my framework with the Win8 installation. Perhaps you could try update the one you have over the internet somehow; I forgot how to do it.

You can download Win8 from MSDN with dev apps like VS already installed. This is separate from the Win8 Enterprise RTM.

I had the same problem/error messages. I got my hands on the correct .net version 4.5 but it refused to install on Windows 8 RC. I read up on the reason and .net 4.5 is built into the Windows 8 OS so it doesn't allow other minor 4.5 versions.

Solution would be to use Win 7 and download and install 4.5 runtime or alternatively download and install Win 8 RTM.

I'm capped and on 3G so that's going to be a bit of a problem... :)

VS2012 doesn't want to install on my Win7 PC. Simply says it requires Win8. Have you managed to install it on Win7?

Nope only Win 8. Doesn't make sense it if is not allowed to work on 7 (Excluding Metro development) as this will force all devs to upgrade their OS if the want to upgrade VS.

Looked at some of the comments on MSDN so far and it seems people are quite unhappy about the new VS interface.

Lots of comments regarding the CAPS lock and minimalist color scheme but that was since Developer Preview days. You can change the CAPS lock in RTM in the menu as well as change to a darker theme so those issue have been dealt with.
There are a lot of enhancements solving 2010 pain points.

Okay, you can only install VS2012 RC on Win8 RP, and the VS2012 RTM only on Win8 RTM. So the Consumer Preview which I have won't work with VS2012.

Where abouts are you Bar0n? Happy to hook a forumite up with a dev build. I'm around Centurion.

I'm about 600km from you, so I'm afraid that's out of the question. Thanks for the offer though. ;)
