Hazeldene - Pretoria - Paramount Estates

Hi,

I recently moved to the The Globe complex in Paramount estates in Hazeldean (close to Silver Lakes) and upon my request to move my line from the previous address in Faerie Glen I was informed that there are no Telkom services available at my address. So now I go from a 10mb line to nothing. I have noticed that there are telkom boxes outside the boom gate at the complex and it is my understanding that provision has been made by the complex owners for telephone lines, so why there is no service I do not know.

Anyone else in the same area with this issue?

I'm currently in the same position as you, also staying at The Globe. Seeing that this post is a couple of years old, I was wondering if you were ever able to obtain a line from Telkom? I was told that there is no cabling infrastructure in the area, which makes absolutely no sense since there is an exchange right outside the boom gates.

Hey Angelo,

No luck from my side. I am using Telkom LTE at the moment but it is very expensive with a small cap. The box by the boomgate is just a switchboard to the exchange that sits in Silverlakes Road. It seems that there is provision for lines to that box, i.e pipes etc so the lines must be pulled from that little white box in your living room to that box but Telkom refuses to do it.

It seems the only option is to get an electrician to lay the cable and then get Telkom to just connect on both ends. This of course will be for your own account. Not sure if we can rally up some troops at the Globe and complain to the caretaker and Telkom?

Are you still in the estate? Are there options for internet access? Checked communet, but they seem a it on the pricey side (can be wrong here, but the math does not compute)
I wanted to go the LTE Uncapped route as it seems to be a lot cheaper for the speed you get as well.

We are moving to the Globe at the end of the month, and would be great if we can have a bit of internet that wont make the bank manager smile from ear to ear...
