My hd 4850 cards(crossfirex) score 11000 on 3dmark06.The gigabyte HD4850 score 9800 alone. So with 2 cards i score 1000 points more.Is this normal or what?Looks very low to me.Some people say that my cpu slows down the cards(bottleneck)

AMD phenom 9600 X4 @2.3 ghz
Club3d HD4850(1gig memory) and a gigabyte Hd 4850-512mb memory (crossfirex)
MSI® AMD® 790X and SB710 Chipset-Socket AM2+/AM3 mobo with 2 gigs ram
windows 7 ultimate 32bit

Its the CPU, had Intel Core 2 Quad with two cards gave around 15000, with 3 cards just under 21000. Dont do that anymore though as long as my games play smoothly cant care about the giant pissing contest 3DMark has become.

i might as well just use one card for now

No dude, just because 3dmark is struggling does not mean games will struggle.

Simple test go run a game and try get the same scene to test the second one. You would be silly to use one card, that cpu is well capable of running both cards. Use actual games before you make your decision.

ya 3Dmark can talk *****.

My experience with xfire.

1 card 18500
2 cards 20000

but, farcry 2 benchmark shows nearly double FPS.
AMD 965 & 2x 5850's.

+1, 3DMark scores don't really relate to the experience you'll have ingame. So use both 4850s, you WILL see a big improvement in games that are GPU intensive.

To get a better 3DMark score you will have to OC that CPU a bit though but again, if you are getting good fps in the games you play there's no need to OC/replace the CPU unless you submit your results to ORB or HWBot

06 is very cpu intensive. With my CPU OCd and the 5850 I had at stock I got 25k compared to the 18k with everything at stock settings

I had the same problem as well a while back with AMD setup and SLI 8800GTS 512. Also a 1000 point difference in 3DMark. IIRC, the problem was that the mobo was running at 8x/8x and the cpu was a bottle neck as well.

8x/8x won't bottleneck 8800s

dgharmse, post a proper screenshot please, like this

Yes default settings. It seems low but i think its my cpu thats holding me back.Compared to you mine looks very slow indeed. The Hd4870 is not that much faster than the HD4850.I see my link width is x8 isnt it suppose to be x16?
