I am sure there are a couple of threads on the same issue, but I am going to ask again and maybe someone can direct me to the right thread.

I am looking to built a HD HTPC. My budget is enough to built a good system, looking to put in a Blu-ray writer, a superb sound card, good graphics.

Is there software so that I can use the system as a PVR sort of thing?

Yes there is ... just make sure you get yourself a TV card with hardware encoding for the PVR functionality. I like the Compro range of TV cards myself, but they can get pricey.

If you want, you can PM me with the stuff you looking for also, and I can give you a quote ... but the only prob is I am in Jhb, so it would have to be couriered.

Great, thanks. I am still a couple of months away from putting everything on paper. To busy to get figure out what components to buy... but as soon as I have a idea of what I want I will PM you for a quote.

I've built HTPC's before ... so if you need help let me know ... go for the antec veris cases they're awesome
 
Visit the AVS forum... htpc section... they have the most awesome "HD HTPC" recommendation guide.
