OK, I've been slowly thinking about the money I've spent to be "HD" compliant, and "up to date" technologically...

It's all just hype honestly... Sure, HD is clear, but I really don't see what the big deal is.

I even rushed to get a Mede8er so I could download the latest HD content...

BIG DEAL!!!!:D

I don't know bout the rest of you guys...

My 42" TV is only 1080/60i, and I don't think it's just hype - it looks really cool. Avatar on Blu-ray blew my mind !

But I may just get a 50" Full HD 3D LED when they get to a reasonable price !!!

Awwww, shame... did you buy some crappy hardware or not know how to connect what you bought?

I love my HD... watching a movie in HD is definitely a better experience than the SD.

In fact if you go back and watch the SD right after you will wonder why it is so blurred.

Heck, even my upscaled DVDs look better on HD!

I have everything (TV, Blu-ray player, receiver, speakers) except a HD-PVR. So i don't really use most of the stuff to its full potential, but i watched the super 14 final in HD, and it was very impressive. So i dont think its hype at all.

Maybe you need to watch some more HD content to appreciate.

what size tv do you have ? anything under 32" yes then HD is not worth it once you get 42" and up it makes a HUGE difference.... also you say "HD Compliant" if your stuff is HD ready you have been suckered as it is 720p not 1080p

Oh *** ... I commented about this a while ago and got hauled over the coals for it ;)

I think you smoking socks, or you need some new glasses!

Lol... The Mede8or is a gem... That 1.5TB hard drive in it, is almost full. I had the crappy QB-100 player before... lol

I"ve got HD everything... I still like my Sony FD Trinitron Wega DRC1250... It had like 4 times the conventional lines of a CRT TV. It still makes me Jizz in my pants:D... Paid R22k for it about 8 years ago... I still love it. Sports looks amazing on that screen. Pity bout the 4:3 format:love:

OK, the clarity is great on HD... Not really buyers remorse, just not all I expected I guess...

Honestly, I've seen HD in action many times and although I don't deny it's got REALLY good picture quality, I honestly cannot say that the difference was mind-blowing enough for me to justify the expense of all the equipment required.

And just as everybody is ripping on pimpassdaddy for having buyers remorse or for buying crappy hardware or for not knowing how to configure it, perhaps the reverse can be applied in that all those who HAVE spent all these thousands of rands are now trying to convince themselves that the cost was justified.........

My point is this: Don't judge or criticize somebody for having a different opinion to your own. We're not children, c'mon guys.

I have the Sony 50 inch LED...

ok, look at it this way.

SD - you can see the blurryness. ok, we all agreed?

now open a 1080p movie on a 42" Screen. is there any way it could be *any* clearer? seriously, I don't even have a samsung or sony - just a sinotec, and I seriously cannot see how you can improve the definition on it in any way - even from a few Centimeter away!
seriously, there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with the picture quality - there are just enough pixels for that size, if it was 4000x2000 i'm sure you would not be able to tell the difference

so ok, we have SD which is blurry, and HD which can't be any clearer, even from up close - how can you NOT like it and say it's just hype? seriously - maybe you should make sure you are using HDMi

Have a look at the new 42" or 50" Full HD screens - it will blow your mind !!!

I was at Makro the other day, and they had a lineup of screens all playing Avatar in HD at the same time. My eyes nearly popped !!!

It took great mental strength to resist buying a new screen !!!

But my old HD Ready non HDMI Sony 42" plasma will have to do the job for a few more years.

(I bought a HDMI => component converter which lets me show Blu-ray at 1080/60i - pretty good, but not as good as the new screens).
