So, my 1Tb drive fast approaching zero free space, soon I'll be forced to get a new drive, problem is the hd price spike the last few months is making it difficult to compare whether you're not being ripped off.

I bought my Seagate 1Tb just before the flood, R499 back then. So my question is, right now I'm looking at a Western Digital,
3Tb just under R1700. Anybody remember what a 3Tb drive cost before the flood spike? (Around Sept 2011 or so?) Anybody bought one? 1Tb drives are ridiculously expensive compared to less than a year ago.

September 2011 around R1700 for 3 TB WD and Seagate® Barracuda XT™ 7200.12 Series - 3TB Serial ATA III (SATA3) Plus - Serial ATA 600 (6Gbps) With 64MB Cache @ 7200RPM - NCQ was around R2,500
