Need to set up an extra view with hd pvr 2p and decoder 1131. Currently what we have is a Twin lnb and heartbeat cable connected. I want to know what else do i need? Should i use a multiswitch? Thanks so much in advance.

You're 80% there, just get a 2x4 multiswitch and 3 cables to connect multiswitch to the decoders, that's it

Ok but what if the decoders are not in the same room? Currently there are just a twin lnb with two cables from there running into the hd pvr. So if the decoders are in different rooms how would the whole setup be? Does each decoder need to be connected to the lnb? Or does the multiswitch cancel that out? Would we need to get a IR remote blaster to change the channels of the 1131 decoder in other room then?

You can still use a 2x4 multiswitch but then the one feed from the switch will need to run to the other room, and the heartbeat cable will need to run to the other room.
You can then use a TVlink to change channels via the heartbeat cable
Check on the DSTV forum for different setup options & the advantages & disadvantages of each

ok and what if i put both decoders in the tv room and make the hd pvr 2p my primary as they have a hd tv and the 1131 the secondary. Can i do it like this with only one cable already running from the tv room to the bedroom? I heard the tv link only work through rf out. With XV i need to connect primary rf in to secondary rf out so how will the link work if i only have rf in to connect it to? Meaning the cable running to the room will go from rf in then? And how will i connect cables to the MS? How will the cables run from lnb into MS and from MS to decoders? Which wires go where and what splitters do i need ect. THANKS SO MUCH FOR THIS. Appreciate your help with this.

1. Connect 2 cables from dual lnb to 2x4 switch.
2. From the 4 - take 2 to hd pvr and 1 to room (so u have 1 - spare).
3. Take heart beat from HD pvr RF out to RF in of 1131.

So 2 cables to room.
Set HD pvr extraview settings to RF IN, TV 1, On and on - set remote to TV1.
Set 131 extraview to RF out, TV 2, on and off - set remote to TV2.

Make sure u phone MC to get the extraview as otherwise it wont work or worstcase, they bill u twice.

ok but i understand that primary decoder should always be rf in and when secondary will be rf out? So if they are both in tv room the decoders from which output will the cable run to bedroom? TV link only works through rf out. And is one cable enough to the bedroom then? Thanks

Ooopps, you are right.

To transfer yr AV signal from tv room to bedroom, u will need 3 long RCA (yellow, red and white) cables.
I would not advise this as for one, how would u use yr remote if the decoder is lying in the tv room.
There may also be signal loss on AV cable - not protected.

so how am i going to do this?

The heartbeat can use either RF in or RF out
So you can connect HDPVR RF out to 1131 RF in for heartbeat (this will also send the audio&video through the 1131)
Then connect 1131 RF out to bedroom

TVlink will then work on 1131, and the bedroom will get the feed from both decoders. You could also use a splitter & try get the TVlink to work on both

Would this work? The two cables of the twin lnb goes into the 2x4 multiswitch. From there two cables run into the hd pvr 2p lnb inputs, and another extra cable from multiswitch into lnb input of 1131 decoder. This is with both decoders in tv room. Then out of hd pvr 2p rf out i run a heartbeat cable into the rf in input of 1131 decoder. Then i run a cable from rf out of 1131 decoder to the bedroom and at the tv i put in a tv link. Does this sound right? Why does support at mc always instruct XV to be connected primary rf in to secondary rf out? Which link should i ask for? Thanks so much.

That's 100% Gerrit. The call centre read from a manual but you do have options, just make sure the Xtraview settings on the decoder match which port you have used.
The call centre will have no idea which port you have used to just say you have done it their way

Ok great thank you so much. Is there a specific tv link that i would need to buy? Must it be 1131 compatible or something like that? Thanks
