Just curious as this is driving me insane

My PVR keeps on rebooting. Tried to google a reason and can't find any.

Problem is, I got a new TV stand and the PVR fits into a small closed of space in the stand. My first thought is that it might be heat, I moved it out just now and it hasn't happened again. However: I was watching TV in the bedroom on the 74cm TV and the Plasma is in the lounge. The PVR is set on 16:9 ratio and don't know if that could also be causing it. I'm watching on the telly in the lounge now after I moved it and all seems fine....

No idea which it could have been and I'm not in the mood for playing "find the cause" now by secluding one at a time. Any one had issues like this before?

I bet on heat  so much for the new cabinet

I would think its heat related. An SD tv cannot cause the decoder to reboot. The Pace HD decoder runs quite hot!!!

i dont have the random reboots on the HDPVR, i just get the random (not so random) slow downs, which forces me to reboot

This decoder is starting to piss me off so bad.....

Seems like the random reboots are no more, but now there is a more annoying problem and it's preventing me from doing any recordings for the following day.

Every morning I get up it has a "0000" on the display and needs a reboot to work again. This weekend we went away and because of this my Super14 recordings failed. I'm sure it has something to do with the update timer which is set at 3am. But there is no way to remove the update timer and I don't want to reboot this decoder every bloody morning for no reason.

Anyone know a fix for this problem? I am this close to taking this useless decoder to DSTV's head office and throwing the owner with it......

The owner? It's not a family business...

Agree with previous post though, something is wrong with your decoder. What would you do if something went seriously wrong with your car? Take the decoder to MC.

So I have to take this decoder to MC and throw it on the floor for them to see how annoyed I am with this bloody thing?

You'll get better service if you are nice to them. If they won't help you, then you can start throwing those toys.

The HDpvr is a piece-o-crap.

It overheats.
It records at the wrong times. (even compared to my sdpvr)
1 out of ten times it doesn't record sound.
It freezes on a Chanel, either rushing through a whole lot of channels after about 3 minuets or freezing up forcing a reboot.

Poorly thought out, poorly designed, poorly executed. DSTV are more interested in trying to protect the content then improve/fix the functionality.

I've never had any of the problems you are mentioning. I think your first sentence should rather read, "My HDpvr is a piece-o-crap."
