Hi

I have a HD PVR which is connected to my old SD PVR etc so the 2 can work together and I can view multiple channels simultaneously.
I keep getting an error on my SD PVR saying either "TV2 disabled....." or "Cannot connect to primary decoder" and it doesnt work for about 30 minutes and then works again. This happens with clockwork regularity and is obviously irritating.
I had the installation done by a certified DSTV installer and he has been back twice to try and fix things. The last time he came he said he has this problem on several sites and that it is in fact a software error on DSTVs side and cannot be resolved by him.

Can anyone help with this or is anyone else experiencing this? The installer showed me the steps he took and it seems simple enough - connect the 2 PVRs via the "heart beat" cable, change the settings on the PVRs to handle this and it works - at least for an hour at a time.

Any helpful advice appreciated.

Cheers

I had a similar problem. My SD was placed on top of my HD. After moving it side by side to each other, this issue has stopped. So I have concluded that it was an heating issue.

That could be right. Mine however are in different rooms altogether.

I have a similar setup working with HD and SD PVR in different rooms. If it's possible in your installation, try switching the RF In / RF Out ports that carry the Heart Beat cable - the XtraView documentation seems to indicate that one can use either port on the HD PVR, but I had similar instability issues until I switched it so that its running from RF Out on the HD PVR to RF In on the SD PVR. You will need to change the XtraView config on both decoders if you do this.
