I am going to take the leap and buy a HD PVR, does anyone know if there are new models being released soon as I don't want to spend the +-2k and a new one comes out a month later.

Thanks

Do you have any proof of this? I honestly can't see them dropping it that low. . . .

UEC have just launched the locally-manufactured variant... (not the PACE piece of crap made in the UK) so there will be about a 1 1/2 - 2 year gap now before new model comes out.
Yes there is a price drop on the cards, but not much!

Most guys in the industry will tell you that the Pace is better. The HD PVR 2P is a Pace too, but I really liked the original 4 tuner (not available anymore). A drop of R500 is pretty significant...

EDIT: And the 4 tuner UEC HD was launched long ago.

Everyone will be selling them at R1499 from beginning of next month. They are just trying to move old (more expensive) stock, before the price drops... Sneaky.

If you watch general entertainment and sport then go for a 4p. It amazes me how often i have two recordings going simultaneously.

Ja just like most guys in the industry who think it wise to install a dish facing the roof.. causing the customer to complain each time when it rains, even just a little, that the DSTV STB says no signal

I'm not talking about all the dodgy bakkie brigade and technically challenged guys out there. I'm talking about the guys that actually know how things work... I deal with a lot of them.

There were problems with the very first batch of Pace decoders, almost 3 years ago. After that, they rocked. UEC had more issues (Xtraview, HDCP etc).
