Hi guys,

I recently got an HD PVR, which I now want to connect to my PC screen (2494HS) via HDMI. The only problem is that the screen is about 15 meters from the PVR. What would be the most cost effective way to do this? Would it be possible to convert the HDMI to an aerial cable and then back to HDMI? Something like:

PVR ---> HDMI ---> aerial cable (about 15 metres) ---> HDMI ---> LCD

Thanks :)

Do a search for "hdmi cat5 extender"

Cat5 is computer networking cable.

Only thing is if you running it through walls/ceilings, you will have to drill big holes for the plug to fit through. It can be inserted into normal electrical conduits, but its tight fitting and any bends are a nightmare.

15m is about the limit over HDMI before you'll start losing quality
As others have said you can go the ethernet cable route, definitely not normal RF/aerial cable

I also have a 2494 connected to a HDPVR over a 10M cable, no quality issues at all

I have a 20m HDMI cable from my decoder to a 40" LCD. Works fine

We use 20m HDMi cables. No problems. They are quite bulky though, but will be cheaper than going the cat 5/6 extender route.

I think I'll go the HDMI route. Does anyone know of a cheap place in Cape Town to get 15m HDMI cables?
