Hi, we have an HD PVR P2 Decoder in the living room and an DSD1131 Decoder for the extra view in our room. Everything worked fine until the DSD1131 Decoder froze and could not be reset, so we sent it away and they fixed it and sent it back, we plugged it in and ....... Nothing, there is no signal! So we took it back to them with the HD PVR and they plugged both in and they worked, so we thought it could be the multi switch, bought a new one and still nothing. We have tried plugging it in directly and still the DSD1131 gets no signal. What could we be doing wrong? Why does it work at the Multi Choice Dealer, but not at home? If anyone can also help with a diagram of how the wires should be connected to and from the multiswitch, I would apreciate it.

Thanx.

So, what error do you get on the screen?

My advice would be to get the installer to fix it... Could be dish, setup, heartbeat etc. Installer should be able to sort you out quickly.

Or call multichoice and maybe get them to check if the XV is activated properly.

There is no error message, it just keeps scanning and when you press menu it shows there is no signal, my husband is the installer, seeing as there is no installers situated near us and the nearest one asks a huge amount to drive 100km on a gravel road that is in a horrible state,my husband checked and everything is working, the dish is fine, the setup is fine, the heartbeat and LNB wires tests fine and seems to be working , he is stumped as to why the Decoder isn't getting a signal. The one thing we can't figure out is the multi switch, which wires go where, which Decoder uses the 13V LNB and which uses the 18V LNB........

It does not matter which cable from the twin LNB goes to which input (12V or 18V) on the switch. It also does not matter which output from the switch goes to which input on the 2 decoders.

Well then we have the Multi Switch plugged in correctly 2. What can be the problem then. If we plug the HD PVR cables into the 1131 decoder it is still without signal, but the HD PVR is working just fine with those same cables. We are really speechless that the Decoder isn't working at home, but works at the DSTV agent. What else can we try?

As a test, bypass the switch and run straight from the LNB into the 1131. Use the line currently connected to the 18V input on the switch...

It will scan and show signal without the HB cable, you will just get an error message on the screen.

Disconnect the cable going to the 1131, from the multiswitch. When the 1131 is trying to scan, test if there is DC voltage between the centre conductor and F-connector, on this cable. You can test this with a multimeter. It should read 12V DC... If there is nothing, your decoder is faulty.

It seems to be a decoder fault - maybe just unlucky that it worked at MC.
Hope you inserting the cables into the right inputs.

It does seem to be the decoder. LNB is fine, cause HD works 100%. Can't be the switch, as they have tried bypassing it. That leaves decoder.

We have established it is the Decoder, plugged it into a single LNB at someone elses house and it still didn't have a signal, we will be sending it away AGAIN to be fixed. Ai, Ai, another month without extra view!
