HD PVR Recordings erratic

I am sure this question has been asked and answered already, but it is really frustrating me. Why does my PVR not record everything I ask it to? Sometimes it works fine, other times it sort of loses interest in recording something after 2 minutes. Those times it does not give me the alert until afterwards and even then the shows show up in the scheduled recordings menu (with the little exclamation mark thingy). Can somebody please tell me what I am doing wrong? I have the Pace decoder with a twin LNB and multiswitch.

If you have the latest software this shouldn't be happening, I haven't had a failed recording on my Pace since the May 2009 update (except a few weather related failures)
One of your multiswitch ports might be a little dodgy, if you have any spare try using them for tuners 2 & 3
Also check if the failed recordings are attempting to use tuner 3 (the 2nd recording)

Will also happen when you think you were recording something and Multichoice decides to show something else in that slot, as they have been doing recently. Anything specific you were recording ?

I'd guesss the good wife .....pun intended Doesn't sound like a typical MC thing though, like they've been doing with Lie to me and Merlin.
