Hi,
We recently purchased an HD TV and I was wondering what I will need (other than the HD Decoder ) to watch HD DSTV, another dish? More subscription? Sorry for the noob questions but I don't see a package for this (we already pay for DSTV premium.

Thanks

As for the subscription I think there is an extra charge. You would also need a dual lnb and an extra cable to the dish.

If it is the 2p pvr that is all unless you have extra view.

Move away from MultiChoice! Put the decoder back in the box and see if they will refund your money!

They're a bunch of thieves! You pay for Premium and then an additional amount for PVR. You end up paying over R700 pm. It's crazy!

How do you end up paying over R700 per month, please break it down.

We pay R650 or something for the premium with an hd pvr and extra view and a drifta.

But I do agree it is expensive

Yes its R620/R650 (cant recall exact amount) i pay with PVR access which includes ExtraView.

You will need a dual lnb, and then obviously another cable from the dish.

For XtraView it gets a little more complex. You'll also need a 2x4 or 2x6 multiswitch, a cable from the multisitch to the XtraView decoder and anotherr cable from the HD PVR to the XtraView decoder.

That's it :)

I've got the Indian channels as well - forgot about that! Sorry.

R559 for premium as you are paying, this INCLUDES the HD channels
If you want to use the PVR functions (record, pause etc) then it costs an additional R65
This R65 also includes Xtraview should you choose to use it, i.e. you can link another decoder to the HDPVR at no extra cost

Your dish will be fine
If you have a single LNB connection (as you would if you just have a single view decoder) then you will need a dual LNB
If your current decoder is a 1110 or 1131 then you can link it with the HDPVR via Xtraview.
For this you would need 3 connections from the dish (2 for HDPVR, 1 for 1100/1131)
Easiest way to get 3 is a dual LNB + 2x4 multiswitch, effectively splitting the 2 from the dish into 4 (no, you cant split 1 into 3)
