Hi everyone. I'm a bit confused with the hd ready thing. Can I play games in HD by merely connecting an HDMI cable from my Xbox to TV? I have a Samsung 32" hd ready tv (series 3). When I bought the tv, I was given the impression that I would just have to connect the hd input (blue ray, ps 3 etc.) and it would work. A friend told me that this was wrong and that I would need a tuner of some sort first. I'd first like to clarify this before I buy an hdmi cable. Can someone please help?

Yip, connect your Xbox to the TV with the HDMI cable and then you are good to go. You don't need any "tuners" or anything :p

And please don't spend a fortune on an HDMI cable, the cheap ones work just as well.

After you hook it up, it should default automatically to an HD resolution, but just check in the video settings of the XBOX that it is set to 720p widescreen

I'm not a gamer but I'm sure you can, you would simply do HDMI from Xbox into TV's HDMI, probably labelled HDMI 1, and then match the source to the input (HDMI 1) with the remote's Source button.

If the TV has an HDMI input, then yes you can. All that "HD ready" means in that your resolution will be 720p, and not 1080p as it is with "Full HD". 720p is fine though at that screen size, you won't notice much of a difference.

Yes, I do it with no issues and no one can tell the difference! Xbox via HDMI to 50" plasma HD Ready (720p). Enjoy!

...But it's only 720p...

:p ;) :D
Lol, I presume its sarcasm coming from you, although you are absolutely right, but only if I tell people it is. Otherwise it looks just the same :p
Everyone's an expert once they know...and wonderfully oblivious while they don't.

Agreed, the cheap ones work just as good.

Wats a reasonable price for a hdmi cable. I bought a xbox today. And where can I get it where they won't overcharge me
