I can get an HD single view decoder with dish and installation voucher for R799. (Makro)

Yet if I purchase an Explora from Multichoice and contact an accredited installer to install the Explora with a new dish the price is R1 350.

Am I missing something.?
Should I buy the single view HD decoder and have it installed for R799 and then simply hook up the Explora myself?

The R799 deals are subsidised deals by DStv. The installer gets his installation fees back from DStv after activation. The hardware also costs more and it takes longer to install an Explora.

Thanks. What I'm trying to ascertain I guess is the following :

Is the Dish and LNB etc of the HD single view decoder compatible with the Explora?

If I install the HD decoder and decide to upgrade to Explora is it basically plug and play?

No.

Sorry Super Grandmaster (WTF?) but that's bull****. Of course you can. I did it last week. It's plug and play don't let anyone tell you otherwise Rizzler.

An Explora needs either a smart LNB or a Twin or Quad LNB feeding an Explora multiswitch. If you're claiming to have connected your Explora to a single universal LNB which is what is supplied with the R799 single view special then your Explora is not working I can guarantee it. Unless you have a smart LNB on your single view installation (and why would you have?) it is not plug and play. In fact even if you did have a smart LNB you would still have had to gotten up to the dish and disconnected the cable from the universal port and connected it to a SatCR port which is hardly what I would call plug and play.

It actually seems like you are trying to be misleading here.
