So I have a HD TV with 1080p, my PC monitor is also 1080p, so I thought the quality would be the same, but it's not really.

Is this a common thing? Quite sad I thought HD TV PC gaming would be awesome.

It depends on the tv and it's settings, I plug my laptop via HDMI and it's fine, but I set the tv to over mode

ya you need to play with the tv settings quiet a bit if you using a hdmi cable to get your best quality unless your tv is a random no name brand then you could just be screwed

It's a JVC, not many setting to play around with O.o

Remember the TV screen is much bigger with the same amount of pixels as your smaller computer screen, so close-up it's gonna look a bit worse.
That said, some TV's have amazing processors, like Sony Bravia, that makes everything look smooth and sharp.

PC screens are usually TN panels, while TVs are PVA/IPS or better.
