When I replaced Win7 OS on my laptop with Win8 Pro 64-bit, it auto-partitioned my single mechanical HDD as per the screen shot below:

So, every file (OS, programs, and user files) currently reside on the one partition C: , and the other D: partition is empty.

I ideally I would like my the OS, and all my installed programs, to reside on C: (as they currently are), but all my user-created files, e.g. documents, photos, etc., to be on the currently empty D: partition.

Is this as simple as just moving personal folders with documents, photos, etc., over, from C:/ to D:/ by a cut & paste operation?

The libraries just point to a set of physical folders, they aren't folders themselves. Open Explorer, click on Documents for instance, then you'll see a "Library Tools" ribbon, open it and click Manage library. In there you can set the save locations.

Many thanks for that .. I'm trying it now. As I understand it, a library retrieves content from any chosen file location that I set?? So that file location could be on either the C:/ or D:/ drive?
