Hi guys,

I have a 400GB Seagate that seems to be working fine. But for some reason it is saying that it's write protected when I want to copy anything onto it or even create a folder???

I'm running Vista X64. There's about 103GB left???? Why would this be?

Could be permissions have changed, don't know about Vista but on XP from an explorer windows it's Tools > Folder Options > View > Uncheck Simple File Sharing > Apply,,, then right click the drive (or a folder) and make sure you have full permissions to what you want to change.

Have you tried using it on a different cable/port/PC?

Renaldo?

Hi,

It's my second HDD (my 320GB is working fine but the 400GB seems to have some probs)

Tried a diff sata cable but didn't solve the prob. I did try and change my drive letter but Vista doesn't want 2:-)

I have full permission to the drive like always and I also have ownership of the drive. The access didn't change. I can't even do a scan disk so I'll try running some extra anti virus programs tonight and so on to see maybe I'm infected :-D

Will let you know
