Hi guys,

A friend of mine just gave me a call and he has a problem with his hdd. He leant it to someone, before which it was working, and now when he got it back it doesnt work. Windoze says it is corrupt and under all the disk space options is ( 0 bytes ).

I'm thinking the partition was either deleted or the most likely option, it was dropped.

My question is: Can a corrupt hard drive be fixed with say partition magic ( FDisk is a bit too complicated for me ) and if not, can the info on the disk still be salavged and with what?

Thanks guys

Start -> Run -> "%windir%\system32\diskmgmt.msc"

Check what that says about the hard-drive.

Delete the partition, repartition, format. Best option download the hard-drive utility, zero fill and after that run a full diagnostic if it reports no errors the hard-drive should be ok.

Before you delete any partitions first check whether anything can be salvaged with some disk recovery software. If you need a suitable tool, pm me.
