One of my WD red 4TB was throwing errors on my server so I sent it to takealot for the warranty claim.

They have alleged damage so warranty is voided which I find unfathomable considering it's been in a server for the entire time and not touched. Have requested the official report and photos as either they are BSing, their courier damaged it or them returning it to WD damaged it. But I didn't.

I'll fight that fight tomorrow but in the meantime I'm obviously going to take my business elsewhere as I'm not gonna wait for a replacement when I need to buy another 4 to start my back up server. Any recommendations? Tempted for Amazon. Must be convenient.

The funny part is that Amazon is cheaper and has faster delivery than a local online retailer.

What a joke. R1900 each delivered to my door.

Get hold of Drive Control Corporation (DCC) and see if they can help you.

Just an update .

Takealot are a joke. Their pictures at the warehouse showed that there was no damage. The supplier didn't have a report for did they have photos of apparent damage.

Back and forth, I eventually got my refund. Two months later.

Takealot could have saved themselves R2k by being a little more competent on the warranties side.

Not sure who the WD suppliers are but they should be dealt with. shocking.
