I have my PC connected to a Denon AV system (amp) via HDMI. The problem is that my subwoofer randomly turns off and on again, and every time that happens my PC screen gets black for 2-5sec and then everything works fine again (I've tried all possible settings combinations on my AV system without any luck). Since this never happened when my PC was directly connected to my screen, I assume a CEC command is send back to the PC to “refresh” (or something like that).
So I somehow want to disable CEC. I had an idea getting a DVI-to-HDMI and HDMI-to-DVI converter to still get HD video, but without the CEC. The problem is that I also send 5.1 audio from my PC to my amp, hence the DVI-conversion won’t work (DVI doesn’t support audio). As far as I know there is no way of deactivating this in Windows either (or is there?). Anyone got an idea of what I can do without spending a huge amount of money?
