IMHO, the HDMI connectors on most device are mechanically very unreliable. The slightest movement eventually causes the socket on the m/b to break. The DVI connector at least can screw in and mechanically support the connection.

Anyone else have the same issue?

Its sounds like you are rough with your equipment, care to include pictures?
actually no, its a new PC (1 month) that has been put into shelf and does not move at all. One day the image does not show. So I wiggle the cable and the image comes up. The plug feels very loose though....

Yeah I never had an HDMI problem and I only buy Asus motherboards.

No problems with HDMI here either.

I can only imagine a bad solder on your card.

DVI would probably be worse because with it screwed in the leverage on solder joints would be even more and never release.

Agree
HDMI cables and connectors can be quite heavy / thick and certainly can put significant strain on a static device.

the DVI plug screws onto the mounting plate so much less strain on the pcb IMHO

Aah yes you are right.

I have lost all the plates on most of my motherboards over time.

But general direct motherboard connectors are soldered in better and it's also a whole lot wider so a bit more surface area.

The HDMI connector is no different from USB.

HDMI cables tend to be thicker and stiffer than usb cables so much less stress on usb ports....

Are you sure that you don't have a dodgy cable?

The HDMI connector/socket is truly horrid for a cable of that size/weight.

Try getting an HDMI cable allows the connector to be rotated. That should allow for a more stable connection with less pressure on the socket.

Yeah, in some cases an HDMI with a 90 deg connector might be better.
