I have communicated with HDCabling over email regarding long HDMI cables to run through very narrow conduits to connect my DSTV Explora to a UHD TV.

They have up to 20m cable that can carry the signal without loss. (so they said)
My challenge is to get the head through the conduit.
Apparently their current stock has a metallic casing that can be removed from the head, leaving a 17mm head. Should potentially go through the 20mm conduit.

They further said I could cut the head off, pull it through the conduit, and then let them come and do the crimping of a new head.

I am a bit surprised as I was under the impression HDMI crimping is not possible?
What is the impact on signal quality etc?

Hoping to hear your opinions regarding this.

I'm surprised they didn't suggest an HDMI over Cat5e/6 solution. Depending on the distance from source device to TV / Projector, we sell self and mains powered HDMI extenders (Some support Infra-Red passthrough). The cheaper ones require a pair of network cables, and the more expensive extenders work across a single network cable

Thanks for the info, but I have told them I do not want a CAT5/6 solution for reasons of my own.

What about using an HDMI mini or micro cable instead? The two plugs are significantly smaller than the standard plug/head.
