currently i have a samsung 23" lcd screen (b2330h) with a hdmi connection, and it's connected to my gfx (xfx 9600gt) card via dvi...

...now gaming wise, would i see a big improvement ie quality wise, if i would upgrade my gfx card to one with a hdmi connection, and connect the screen to the card via a hdmi cable

i'm currently looking at cards in the price range of a 5770 card, so under 2k would be nice

Honestly I don't think you will notice a any difference.

HDMI and DVI are electrically equivalent as far as I know. Literally the same signal is sent down the wire but the connector is different. The only reason you should think about doing it is if you have two PCs that need to connect to the same monitor, for whatever reason.

You would get an improvement in that you'd be able to run games at higher settings. I think that a 5770 would be a nice upgrade over a 9600gt.

Nice one. :)

But HDMI and DVI give the same picture quality.

oh and you can route the sound to the monitor speakers via hdmi although i dont know why anyone would want to do that anyway.
