So as I understand it hdmi is both video and audio.
So say you got a dvd plaver HDMI out to tv and you have a amp, what do you do with the audio. amp not hdmi ports.

Also, this guy dvd use to play hdmi, then not any more.I looked and then put it on av again. move the cable to the pvr and their was pics, so the cable seems ok.
The dvd is blu ray machine. It did work.

personally I dont like the hdmi connector, pull out to easy.

Um....are you Afrikaans? Please rewrite that in proper English or even Afrikaans, and I will maybe come back and try to help, but I am not entirely sure what you are saying.

Cant understand that sorry.

If you are Afrikaans, put it in Afrikaans. Might make it more understandable

You connect the DVD directly to the AMP with whatever ports are available on both - e.g. fiber out of the DVD going to the AMP. Alternatively connect the TV to the AMP for audio output.

If if doesn't play out the HDMI then it's a setting on the DVD for the output or the device is faulty.

Btw, if the "dvd" is a blu-ray.. then its no longer a dvd.. its a Blu-Ray player that also plays dvd's...

and to get the most out of a Blu-Ray player you need to get the HDMI working, and you'll need an amp that can do HDMI passthrough on a 1080p signal because normal optical doesn't have the bandwidth to handle lossless audio streams.

Interesting... are those AMPS also capable of passthrough video upscaling to 1080p of it's only for the sound?

persobnaly i dont know what the hell you are asking but here goes.
the HDMI transmits both audio and video if you only want stereo then just connect it to the tv if you want 5.1 connect the hdmi to an HDMI combatible amp, if its not hdmi combatble connect te digital audio or coaxial to the amp.

check the settings on the blu ray dvd whatever it is today, the HDMI might be turnd off.

I though that blu ray is just more info on a dvd.

So if a blu ray player play, does it tx on hdmi and av all at the same time.

This plaver also have a optic out audio. seems better to use that then.

Hope you understand me better this time.

Blu-ray is an entirely new format. Very different to DVD as you can only play Blu-ray movies on a Blu-ray player and they are in Full HD. HDMI can do Audio and Visuals at the same time but if you want surround sound and all that then you are best to use an optic cable + HDMI

Blu Ray is to DVD almost what DVD is to Videotape. If you are feeling lucky, take an expensive Blu Ray and try it in a DVD player, and tell us what happens....my bet is it blows up:-P

blu ray is totaly differenct from dvd, but you not the first person to make that misttake so your forgiven
yes it can transmit on hdmi and av at the same time
optic out i wouldnt say better rather the same, it all depends on what hardware you have if none of you audio equipment is hdmi compatable then yes otical out is better, if your audio hardwae is hdmi then hdmi is better - at the end of the day its 5.1

wnet into setup on blu ray and tv. The tv [lg ] does not say what hdmi it is, but hd pvr works fine.

The blu ray was 1080p and you can select tv or monitor.

I remove output from pvr and put it on blu ray, nothing.
Put it back to pvr then fine.

av out does work on bluray.
the hdmi did work.
