All sorted. Weird.
So I had run a second Cat6 cable to the same room at the same time to go directly into the TV. I simply swapped that cable for the HDMI over Ethernet one, and it worked perfectly. No idea why. Swapped back to the original HDMI over Ethernet cable, and the same black screen problem persisted. Also noticeably worse picture quality and artifacting, compared to the ‘new’ cable.
And the original HDMI over Ethernet works perfectly in the TV. Full speed in the YouTube app stats.
