1st of all I'd like to thank RPM & MyBB for my PS3 (yay!)
Ok I wana use my old PC moniter as my gaming screen, so I have three questions
1) How much am I looking to pay for a hdmi to vga cable with an audio jack?
2) Where can I get one? (I'll try Game & Save Hyper)
3) Lets say I use a hdmi to vga cable with video feed only, can I use the AV ports for audio whilst the hdmi port is in use?

Edit: Crap the interwebs say this won't work, any suggestions?

Look for a 2nd Hand monitor with HDMI if you can't afford a new one.

Thanx guys I'll consider the two.
I'm now thinking of getting a GFX card with hdmi ports to get video and sound feed through the PC (assuming the ports are input ports). Good idea?

Is the monitor Full HD?The reason I'm asking is because if you connect your PS3 to a PC Monitor all your 720p games will look blurry as it will run the games at 1280x720 and not the Monitors Native resolution of 1920x1080.Sadly a lot of monitors does not support proper upscaling.

I had the issue when I tried to connect my PS3 to my Samsung P2770 monitor.Ended up just sticking to the television.

A graphics card won't work, you'd need a capture card with HDMI.

On the PS3 you can have video over HDMI and audio from the analogue(stereo) or optical out.

Your simplest and best option is probably buying a new monitor/TV.

I'm also looking for a HDMI to VGA cable as I lost line last week. My Asus ultrabook came with one so that I can connect it to a projector when making presentations and stupidly I left it attached to the VGA cable of the conference venue :-(

I didn't have that issue with my Samsung monitor (2494HS). Maybe you didn't set it to "Just Scan" mode. Also disable "AV mode".

Sadly the Samsung P2770 does not have 'just scan' mode.I was just mentioning about the blurry issue just for in case his monitor also wont upscale properly and give a blurry picture on non-native resolution.

I just remember being stumped to why all my games looked shoddy and spending many hours searching to find that the monitor was at fault.

Well it seems I have no choice but to invest in a new screen. Now must the screen be an LCD/LED moniter or a LCD/LED tv?
